The family lived in Iowa for several years, then when Lester was about 20, they moved to Yates Center, Kansas, for one year, then back to Iowa.
In his early 20's, Lester went to Washington to work in wheat harvest, going part way by stagecoach.
He married Beulah May Weston in 1910 and they had eight children: Eva June (Adams), Lester Lawrence, Kenneth Paul, Mary Otie (McCarthur), Alice May, Frances Helen (Wilcox), Grant Stanley,and Gene Clyde.
In 1921 they moved with six of their eight children to Kit Carson County, Colorado, coming by immigrant car. They farmed outside of Burlington for many years and eventually moved to the town of Burlington.
Beulah died in 1974. Lester was living at Grace Manor Care Center at the time of his death and passed away at Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital at the age of 101 years 7 months 22 days.
