Mary Jane Newbrough Pierson Korth, 96 of Grafton, passed away on Thursday December 17, 2020 at Grafton City Hospital with her loving grandson by her side.
She was born April 15, 1924 in Grafton, daughter of Silas and Gay Childers Newbrough.
Twice married: Stanley W. Pierson born Warren, Ohio; married May 5, 1944 Alexandria, VA, killed in action while serving with the 6th Marine Division on Okinawa during World War ll June 20,1945 Married William R. Korth, also of Warren, OH, on February 28, 1948 and he died on February 19, 1971.
In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, William Russell Korth Jr., who died on March 1991; daughter-in-law, Judy Yost Kroth Armstrong; five brothers, Dorsey S. Newbrough, Martin J. Newbrough, Richard L. Newbrough, James W. Newbrough and Jack Newbrough; three sisters, twins, Helen L. Newbrough Kleinhans and Hallie K. Newbrough Comer and Betty Gail Newbrough.
Mary Jane is survived by one brother, William Newbrough and wife, Louise; three grandchildren, Ryan Korth, Jesse Korth and Ashley Phillips and husband, Damien; three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Caden and Ireland Phillips and several nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Grafton High School, class of 1945, a member of the First Baptist Church; Life member of the Gold Star Wives of America; Member and past President of the Woman’s Club of Grafton, A seventy year member of the National Society Daughters of the America Revolution, past Regent and member of the former Elizabeth Cummins Jackson Chapter DAR and had served as Historian for the DAR state organization; Past Regent of the Catherine Garretson Morgan Chapter, Daughters of American Colonists, of Fairmont and a former member of the Stonewall Jackson Chapter United daughters of the Confederacy Clarksburg.
A special thank you to Grafton City Hospital and all the staff for the continuous care and love you showed to Mary Jane and her family.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in Mary Jane Korth name to the First Baptist Church of Grafton P.O. Box 116 Grafton, WV 26354.
Graveside services will at Bluemont Cemetery, on Sunday December 20, 2020 at 1:00 PM. with Pastor Orville Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Bluemont Cemetery.
