This is a "Virtual War Memorial".
There is no such physical War Memorial in Mount Jerome Cemetery.

This memorial has been created in order to bring together in one place over 200 men and women who died in World War 1 and World War 2, or who served during both wars and survived, and whose name is noted on a headstone within the cemetery.

Mount Jerome Cemetery contains the graves of 74 men and women who served in the British Armed Forces during both World Wars and who were buried here, and whose deaths were officially recognised by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission CWGC as occurring in war, or from injuries received in war. A further 4 whose deaths are not recognised by CWGC, are included.
For World War 1, a death occurring after 1921 is not officially recognised by the Commission.
For World War 2, a death occurring after 1947 is not officially recognised by the Commission.

Please note that this list of surnames is exactly as recorded by CWGC as being buried in Mount Jerome Cemetery. On "official" War Memorials and headstones, only the rank, the initial of the christian name, the surname and the regiment were engraved on the panels. In the following list, the rank is omitted but the full christian name(s) and surname is noted where known or subsequently discovered. The service number, rank and regiment, and personal biography are recorded on the individual's memorial.

This memorial also includes very many from both wars who died and were buried elsewhere in Ireland or abroad, but whose names are recorded on the headstones of family plots within the cemetery.

Each person noted below has their own individual memorial within FIND-A-GRAVE, which you can connect to using the hyperlink. Their biographies are being updated on a continuing basis, when further information about a person is found.
In the cases of those buried abroad, the link will bring you firstly to the grave of the relative here in Mount Jerome, from where you can then use a further link to the grave abroad.
