Luke Fitzpatrick died at his home a mile and a half northwest of Maurice Wednesday at ten o'clock at the age of seventy eight years. His death was due to the infirmities of old age.
Deceased was born in Ireland and came to America when a young man. He located in Delaware county Iowa where he was married and raised a family of seven children. One son died fifteen years ago.
Six children survive to share the grief of (with) their aged mother. the children are Ed of Lind Washington, Mrs. Dan Doherty of Maurice, Mrs. John Linnan of Maurice, Mrs. Fred Viotho of Ireton, Luke and Frank at Home.
The Fitzpatrick family came to Sioux county in 1861 and located on the farm where the death occurred. Deceased was a good citizen and shrewd manager and was posessed of an estate consisting of about 800 acres of Sioux county land and other holdings here and in Washington state. he was a consistent member of the catholic church. His funeral was held Friday at ten o'clock from St. Mary's church at Maurice-Father McNally officiating.
