Walter Scott Hunt, 99, of 230 Great Rd., assistant manager of the Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank, Woonsocket office, for 28 years before retiring in 1953, died yesterday at Fogarty Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Alice (Schnorr) Hunt.

Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late James and Jane (Riddoch) Hunt.

Mr. Hunt was assistant treasurer of the former Woonsocket Trust Co. and the former Producers Bank.

At the time of his death, he was the oldest past master of Morning Star Lodge, F & AM, and its treasurer for 31 years. He received a 70-year jewel in 1987. He was a past noble grand of Good Samaritan Lodge and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Pawtucket. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and the former St. Andrew's Chapel, both in Woonsocket. He was a former board member of the Blue Home for the Aged, and a corporator of Woonsocket Hospital. In his youth, he was very active in baseball, basketball, and the holder of many trophies in running.

He leaves two daughters, Eleanor H. Arnold of Woonsocket and Ruth H. Souler of Cranston; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Holt Funeral Home, 510 S. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
