Vivian attended the Elkhart Lake Grade School and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1959. She attended LaCrosse and Oshkosh State Universities.
She taught physical education in Buffalo, N.Y., for five years and for the past two years taught physical education in the Wild Rose School System.
She was a member of the state and national Physical Education Association and was a member of the Wisconsin Education Association. She served as president of the WAA while a student at Oshkosh.
Ms. Burkhart, died in route to University Hospitals in Madison, three and a half hours after she was injured in a head-on collision a mile east of Wautoma on Highway 21-73.
She was a passenger in a car driven by Ms. Margaret J. Anderson, 24 of R.2, Wautoma. The car collided with a pickup truck driven by Marvin E. Gutche, of R.1, Wautoma, as the truck was attempting to make a left turn into the super market at 8p.m. Wednesday.
