Catherine Eleanor "Kitty" Daniell, daughter of James Levi Daniell and Elizabeth Clements Butts, was born 7 January 1826. She married Francis C. "Frank" Butts, a second cousin, about 1845. In the 1850 census of Barbour County, Alabama, Francis, Catherine, and their son Martin, age 4, are listed nine households from her widowed mother.

Andrews, Catherine, wife of F. C. Butts, James Henry Daniel, over age 21, John Levi Daniel, Samuel C. Daniel, Julia A. Daniel, Sarah E. Daniel. A. C. Mitchell is guardian of the last four minors.

Francis C. Butts died in 1859. In the 1860 census, Catherine Butts, a well-to-do widow, is head of household with 5 children.

Catherine's first husband, Francis C. Butts, is buried in Ivey Cemetery, Glennville, Alabama, as are her parents, Rev. James L. Daniell and Eliza Clements Butts.

On 19 May 1891, the "heirs of Mrs. Kitty Butts, Barbour County, Ala." are named as heirs of James L. Daniel in a filing to the Barbour County, Alabama Probate Court.
