STETSON, PHILLIPS and COLUMBIA FALLS - Sylvia R. Grant, 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior and joined her beloved husband, Gerald, Wednesday, July 16, 2008. She was born May 24, 1930, in Gouldsboro, the daughter of Samuel and Rita (Wass) Randall. Mom was a devoted wife and mother and gave selflessly to her family her entire life.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, quilting and playing games with her children and their families. Mom was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Exeter.
Mom is survived by her five children, Linda Davis and her husband, Osborne, of Addison, Patricia Ross and her husband, Charles, of Ellsworth, Kevin Grant and his wife, Pamela, of Belgrade, Timothy Grant and his wife, Sherri, of Pendleton, S.C., and V. Renee Young and her husband, Tom, of Stetson; a sister, Ellen Nixon of Columbia; two brothers-in-law, Morton Grant and his wife, Mildred, of Windham and Ronald Grant and his wife, Pamela, of Topsham; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Randall of Cherryfield, Kathleen Watts of Sabattus, Roberta Holland of Presque Isle and Winifred Rybczyk of Southbridge, Mass., 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Gerald; her foster mother, Viletta Alley; two brothers, Ezra and Elmer; three sisters, Goldie, Bernetta and Juanita; one sister-in-law, Shirley Pineo; one great-granddaughter, Tia Du-bay; and one great-grandson, Nikolas Emerson.
A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 21, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Exeter, with Pastor Stan Griffin officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service in the church undercroft. Interment will be held at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
