Paul Gertsch
Paul Gertsch, 62, engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad Co., died of a heart ailment Tuesday at 3:25 p.m. at his residence, 629 N. 2nd West.
He was born March 17, 1885, in Switzerland, a son of Frederick and Susan Wyler Gertsch, converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They brought him to the United States 61 years ago.
An employee of the railroad for more than 43 years, he was an engineer for 42 years of that time, and a member of the Brotherhoold of Locomotive Engineers.
Mr. Gertsch was an active member of Twenty-second L D S ward.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Louise Sarbach Gertsch, whom he married Dec. 29, 1904, in Paris, Ida.; three sons and a daughter: Willis J. Gertsch, New York City; Elmer P. Gertsch, Los Angeles; Walter Gertsch, Caliente, Nev.; and Mrs. Thelma Messerly, Salt Lake City; two brothers, John Gertsch, Montpelier, Ida., and Fred Gertsch, Los Angeles, and eight grandchildren.
