Martha was the 2nd child and daughter of Susan Walker and Joseph Murphy. Joseph's death and burial information are unknown. Martha died in Hominy, Osage, County, Oklahoma. Her older sister Amanda, married Franklin Pierce 'Frank' Muirheid. She is buried in the Wah-She-She Osage Indian Cemetery, Hominy, Osage CO, Oklahoma.
Additional children of Martha and Albert Henry Franklin were: Charles Bunyon 'Charlie' Franklin, husband of Nellie Martha Pierce; Frances Elizabeth 'Fannie' Franklin, wife of Pearly C. Davis; and Mary Susan 'Susie' Franklin, wife of Ralph Waldo Cooper.
Martha was of Creek Indian heritage and considered herself a Shaman. She would perform traditional Creek healing treatments on family members. IE: to prevent the dreaded disease known as Thrush in newborns, Martha would blew in their mouths at their moment of birth.
