Cannon, Henry, will dated 8/30/1830. Wife, Elizabeth Cannon, all my goods, the 80 acres on which I now live and a negro girl, during her lifetime, then to be divided equally amongst my 3 children, William K. Cannon, John W. Cannon, and one not yet being born. Exrs., Gregory F. Hawkins & Newbold Cannon. Wit; Thomas L. Beckner and James C. Crooks. L/T granted to Gregory F. Hawkins. Rec. 2 Dec 1830 (29-32)
According to George Hoffman, descendant of John B. Cannon, Henry Cannon was killed by Indians. Our assumption is that he was aware that he was dying and wrote a will; he died two days after the will was written. Notice he mentions an unborn child. Two months after his death, his widow had a daughter, who she named Henry Margaret Cannon. (The girl uses this name on legal documents throughout her life.) Henry Margaret Cannon married Milton E. Crooks, who is a cousin.
