Wife of Capt. John "Continental" Brown, they married on July 11, 1776, Rowan County, North Carolina. He was the son of Michael Braun and Margareta Caterina Shamback.

Catherine was the daughter of Johann Wendel Miller, he arrived in Pennsylvania from Rotterdam in 1754 aboard the ship "Brothers". By 1856 his first child was born in Rowan County, North Carolina, He was a Lieutenant in the Revolutionary War and was promoted to Captain there he fought Pursing "Tores" and Cherokee Indians. He was a large plantation owner (2,399 acres) with many slaves, and he was one of the wealthiest men in Rowan County.
