George H. Kyle passes
George H. Kyle died at the sanitarium in Kerrville last Wednesday, June 16, after several years of bad health, which steadily grew worse. He was brought to Normangee, Friday afternoon for burial in the family plot beside his mother, sisters and brother in Hopewell Cemetery. The body was brought from Kerville by train to Jewett, where it was taken to his home then by hearse to Normangee, accompanied by members of his family and by numerous friends.
Rev. Z. Z. Nobles had charge of the services, assisted by Revs. C. E. Bullock, R. N. Davis, and Thos. H. Gibbs, and by the Methodist pastor at Jewett, of whose church Mr. Kyle was a member. Bro. Nobles gave a high encomium of Mr. Kyle, having been closely associated with him in a business way for a number of years. We understand it was the special request of Mr. Kyle that Bro. Nobles preach the funeral sermon.
George H. Kyle was born November 19, 1886, son of J. W. and Susie R. Kyle in Hamilton county, Texas. While still a small boy they moved to Normangee, where George grew to manhood and received his education. He studied telegraphy and held a positions with the I.& G.N. Railroad at various points, and for the past several years have been located in Jewett. On October 17, 1926, he was married to Miss Pocahontas Watson. They have two children, a boy and a girl.
George has always been one of the special favorites of The Star man, and we join in withhis relatives in shedding a tear over the early departure of this splendid man.
