Pauline (Bolyard) Funk, age 89, of Knottsville Community, Taylor County, formerly of Marquess, departed this life on Sunday, November 28, 2010, at Connolly Manor where she had made her home for the past six years. She was born in Stevensburg, WV, June 15, 1921, a daughter of the late William Todd Bolyard and Ella Mandy (Funk) Bolyard. Her husband Lee Allen Funk preceded her in death on May 14, 1979. Pauline was a homemaker and loved to talk and visit.
Surviving are: three sons, Richard C. Knotts and wife Sylvia, of Knottsville, Ray E. Funk, of Knottsville, and Casto "Dube" Funk, of Grafton; nine grandchildren, Richard L. Knotts and wife Denice, Carolyn Sheme and husband Kirk, Sue Tichnell and husband Randy, Jeff Knotts and wife Shelia, Jeanie Connor and Tom, Angie Mayle and husband Rick, Julie and Ralphie McCloy, Brian Nicholson and Joyce Dodd, and Patty Stewart, twenty great grandchildren, Christy Burns and John, Thad Knotts, Corey Popanz and Chrissie, Courtney Bolyard and Becky, Nathan Bolyard and Ashley, Zach Sheme and Amy, Cody Sheme, Tamra Tichnell and Chris Bragg, Bobby Tichnell, Lacey Tichnell, Deandra Mayle, Travis Mayle, Josh Tichnell and Joni, Megan Tichnell and Josh, Maranda McCloy, Tyler McCloy, Jessie Nicholson, Audrey Pilling, Cole Pilling, Cassie Reed and Adam, and Kelsey Oram and Dan; ten great great grandchildren, Jeremy Burns, Emma Burns, Aiden Sheme, Mason Sheme, Dominic Bolyard, Ashlynne Bolyard, Kelly Popanz, Roxy Marie Popanz, Gracie Reed and Gionna Orem; and one sister, Dona Evylen Knotts, of Kingwood.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, and eight sisters: Hoy Dallas Bolyard, Anna Mae Maxwell, Stella Unise Cline, Mae Bell Pratt, Dora Sady Zinn, Eva Bolyard, Bennie Scott Bolyard, Annis Crewshow, Kenneth Harry Bolyard, Pearl Eppy Ridenour, and Arizona Roberta Wolfe-Stewart. Friends may call at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave, Newburg, on Saturday from 2 – 8 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010, at the funeral home with Rev. David Maley officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Israel Cemetery, Marquess, WV. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Connolly Manor, RR 3 Box 254, Grafton, WV 26354, for the loving care, kindness and support that they have provided in the past years.
