Mrs. Jean Clay Dunaway of South Boston died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at South Boston Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Halifax County on April 14, 1938 and was 72 years old.

She was the daughter of the late Howard Clifton Clay and the late Irene Brown Clay and was married to the late Daniel Merritt Dunaway.

She was a member of Centerville Baptist Church.

She is survived by two brothers, Artie Clay of Danville and Emmett L. Clay of Alton; one sister, Annie Mae Bowen of Virgilina; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Coy Terry officiating.
