MISS BAXTER IS DEAD.

OLD AND RESPECTED RESIDENT PASSES AWAY.

Her Death Occurred Yesterday Morning at Home of Her Niece, Mrs. E. B. Rand - Funeral This Morning.

After a brief illness, Miss Lizzie Baxter, aged 86, one of Shreveport's most estimable and best known women, died yesterday morning between 7 and 8 o'clock at the residence of her niece, Mrs. E. B. Rand, on Jordan street.

The funeral will take place this morning at 10:30 o'clock from the Rand residence and the services will be conducted by Rev. Jasper K. Smith, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church.

Miss Baxter was apparently in splendid health until about two weeks ago when she suffered a breakdown, her condition growing steadily worse and worse until the end came yesterday. She had many friends and acquaintances and sadness visited quite a number of homes because of her death. She was a devout member of the Presbyterian Church.

Besides Mrs. Rand, the deceased is survived by another niece, Mrs. W. I. Ingersoll, of this city.
