Melva Jean Lyles passed away on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 in Brady. She was born June 7, 1923, in Pilot Point to Mason U. Walling and Allie Dale Pickett. She was a member of the Southside Church of Christ and enjoyed embroidery, all little animals, especially cats, and red flowers. She married Gene Lyles Jan. 1, 1949, in Fort Worth. She is survived by her husband, Gene Lyles of Brady; children, Nicki Lyles of San Marcos; Donna Adams of Rochelle; Chodya Squiers and husband, Kim, of Midway; seven grandchildren, Scott, Joe and Chance Squiers, Ryan and Brandon Adams, Bryan Lyles, Christie Elliott; five great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Denise Lyles of Clyde; two brothers, Clyde Walling of Fort Worth and Billy Joe Walling of Lake Kiowa and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Douglas Lyles; a sister, Maxine Turner and a brother, Leo Walling. Memorials may be made to the West Texas Rehab. Pallbearers will be Scott Squires, Joe Squires, Chance Squires, Ryan Adams, Brandon Adams and Kim Squires. Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 7-9 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Homes in Brady. Services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Southside Church of Christ Church, 1938 S. High St., Brady.
