Sallie Mills Broughton, 96, of Hammond, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2002 at Barbourville Nursing Home. She was a daughter of the late Rev. Larkin Mills and Lizzie Merida Mills. Her husband Clarence C. Broughton preceded her in death. She and her late husband operated the C.C. Broughton Grocery at Hammond. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church at Mills. She is survived by three sons, Roscoe Broughton and wife Fern of Lexington, Glen Broughton and wife Wanda of Bailey Switch and Tip Broughton and wife Jane of Sterling Heights, Mich. ; six daughters, Oda Grubb of College Heights, Mich., Ada Hammons and husband Radford of Bailey Switch, Elizabeth Trent and husband Glen of Cincinnati, Ohio, Irma Ore and husband Julius of Gray, Bobbie Messer and husband Wendell of Fraser, Mich. and Louise Dingess of West Chester, Ohio; 20 grandchildren, 30 great, grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren; a brother, William Mills of Bimble. Services were conducted in Hopper Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002 with the Rev. Lonnie Collett and the Rev. Darryl Bargo officiating. Burial was in Tommy Broughton Cemetery at Roadfork. Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
