"George Robinson. My Dear Sir: It grieves me to tell you that your son, Sargent. Jas. F. Robinson, has fallen; he was killed on Maryland Heights, on the 13th, while charging the enemy. He was struck in the forehead and expired without uttering a word. H. W. Addison."
Confederate Service: 1st S.C. Regiment under Col. Maxey Gregg and participated in the Battle of Fort Sumter. 7th S.S. Volunteers under Col. Thomas G. Bacon. Enlisted June 1st, 1861. Appointed 1st Sergeant on May 14th, 1862 for the duration of the war.
Maryland Heights is across the river from Harper's Ferry Virginia.
