Born in Lamar County, son of Harry Betts & Charity L. Brown Council, he attended Lamar County schools and was a member of the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church. He retired from Flex-o-Lite in 1972 and had served in the army. [PFC US Army]
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; a son, Charles L. Council of Paris; a daughter, Hiawatha Hollins of Paris; his father who lives in Paris; a brother, Rudolph Council of Paris; four sisters, Alene Nelson of Fort Smith, AR., Naomi Henderson of Brookston, Sarah Ruth Coursey of Paris, and Mattie R. Donaldson of Paris; an uncle, the Rev. Buddy Brown of San Antonio and 10 grandchildren."
