Hiawatha M. Hollins, 67, of Parsons, died at 2:40 a.m., Monday, August 8, 2011 at Labette Health in Parsons.

She was born August 30, 1943 at Paris, Texas to Henry and Dorothy May (Cooper-Bills) Hollins. She was raised by her grandmother, Junnie Bills and her stepfather, Earnest Council. She grew up and attended school there She worked for a time at the St. Joseph Hospital in Paris, Texas. She moved to Parsons in 1991 and had lived here since.

She enjoyed going to the casino and movies. She also enjoyed shopping and eating out. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She had attended the New Canaan Baptist Church in Paris.

Survivors: One son, Bobby Don Hollins of Paris, Texas; Five Daughters, Linda Rhodes of Parsons, KS, Deborah Badawieh and her husband Khaled of Garland, Texas, Phyllis Hollins of Parsons, KS, Audra Essig and her husband, Jeff of Parsons, KS and Delonda Hollins of Iola, KS; Five Grandchildren; Two Nephews and Three Nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2011 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home with burial following at the Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons. Friends may call at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home after 12:00 noon on Thursday. Memorials are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation.
