Jane was the daughter of William James. She was born before 1708 and died sometime after probating her husband William's will in 1790.

Jane had 3 siblings:

1. William, d. 1761 SC, m. Sarah
2. Margaret
3. James

Jane's mother is unknown. Her father William died young and her grandfather Howell James stepped in to save the family.

Jane was always active in the early Baptist church. Through the years she was a member of the Welsh Tract Baptist Church, the Brandywine Baptist Church and the London Tract Church.

On 26 Jul 1726 she married William Buckingham. The couple had 7 children, Margaret, John, Enoch, William, Hannah, Ruth and John.

After her husband William died it is felt that Jane may have stayed with her daughter Ruth Buckingham Cloud in Millcreek Hundred.

The posting of Jane's memorial at this cemetery is not based on any "facts". She was a member of this church for many decades. Countless grave markers were destroyed by floods. Burial records from 1780-1830 were accidentally burned. When Jane died she was a member of this church. At that time when members died they were buried in their church yard.
