Christopher Columbus Brantley, or "Bud" as he was also known, was born in Wrightsville, Washington County, GA. When he was a young boy, his parents moved to Montgomery County, GA, to an area known as "Stuckey" that eventually became Wheeler County, GA. Buddy Brantley, as he was called by his parents, grew up on the family farm known as "Goose Hill". He attended Stuckey Baptist Church with his family.
He met his bride, Mary Naomi Clements, who lived in nearby Glenwood, GA, and they married August 1, 1901. It is not known if they met because they were from adjacent towns or if they met by some association with the Baptist Church considering Naomi's father was Pastor at a Baptist Church near by.
Bud Brantley worked on his father's farm and was also employed at the Cotton Gin that was located in what was known as "Stuckey".
In 1924, CC Brantley moved his family to FL. In 1930, the family was living in Lawtey, FL. He remained in FL until he moved back to the farm in Stuckey, GA around 1931.
