"DEATH OF MRS. ISABELLA COLLINS. -- The death of Mrs. Isabella Collins, occured last Saturday afternoon about 5 o'clock. Her death was not a surprise, as she had been ill for several weeks, and had been constantly growing weaker. She was conscious to within a few moments of death, and in anticipation of the result, gave directions in regard to her funeral.
She was a noted woman in this community -- noted for her kindness of heart, her gentle disposition, her love of children, her devotion to freinds, her loyalty to the flag of her country, and her love for the ex-Union soldier of the civil war. In Grand Army matters, she was a conspicuous and unselfish worker, and, indeed in all things pertaining to the comminity's good, her presence was felt. She had no enemies becaue she was void fo offense.
She was one of eleven brothers and sisters, of whom now Gov. Seay is the sole survivor. Their steadfast and inseparaable devotion to each other is well known in this community.
The funeral services were held at Gov. Seay's beautiful residence, they were of the most impressive character, and the presence of so many of the best citizens was a practical tribute to her memory.
The funeral sermond was preached by Rev. J. W. Sherwood, of whose church Mrs. Collis was a devoted member. The Ladies of the G.A.R. and of the Eastern Star, added the funeral rites of their respective orders to the impressiveness of the occasion The pall bearers were selected friends of the family, and army comrades. At the grave the societies before named had charge of the services.
There were many friends and relatives..........."
