James H. Liming, age 82 of Centerburg died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Heartland of Centerburg.

He was born on March 24, 1928 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late George W. and Sara E. (Edwards) Liming. As a young boy, he worked on the railroad. For over forty years, Jim was employed at the Galena Brick Company, as plant superintendent until it was shuttered. For the next 14 years he worked as a line inspector at the Kelsey Hayes plant in Mt. Vernon. He had resided on Lock Rd. for nearly 45 years and along with his wife operated Colonial House Antiques.

Jim had a vast knowledge of antiques and a large collection of Gone with the Wind lamps. He and his wife also enjoyed Amish country and numerous friendships in the Amish community. As one who possessed a green thumb, he was known for his large vegetable and flower garden, and always shared his bounty of home grown treasures. Ornery to the core at times he could be a real "fire cracker".

Determined and steadfast, he was a good provider and dedicated caretaker of his beloved wife of 62 years; Mary L. (Johnson), who passed away on February 11, 2010.

He is survived by daughters: Kathy (Jack) Masters of Mt. Vernon, Wanda Sue (Raymond) Silliman of Mt. Vernon, Sons: Lonnie (Sherry) Liming of Utica, Michael (Joyce) Liming of Purity, 6 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, brother Bill Ray Liming of Oneida, TN, sister Myrtle Ford of Marietta.

Preceded in death by grandchildren: Lisa Strojek, Michael Johnson, brothers: Russell, Clarence, Clyde, Clifford Liming, Ardith Edwards, and sisters Sylvia Fraley, Alice Boggs, Elizabeth Liming, Chloe Davis.
