Born Oct 27, 1885 in Russia. As a young boy moved to Romania with his parents. Moved to Anamoose, ND in 1907. Married Bertha Herman Dec 7, 1911, at Anamoose. Lived there and at Bowbells before moving to Donnybrook in 1928. Was a section foreman for the Soo Line Railroad until retiring in 1950. Member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers.
Survivors: wife; six sons, Gustav, Portal; Arthur, Thief River Falls, Minn.; Walter and George, both of Minot; Clifford, Kenmare and Fredrick, Carrington; two daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Ester) Bowman, Abercombie, and Mrs. Arnold (Leona) Funk, Bowbells; 30 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Kathryn Hensel, Warrenville, Ill.
