He moved from Sutton, Mass., and settled at Hague, N. Y., with his eldest brother, John. Thurston's books and other belongings were burned, — the house was half log and half frame. An old chest was saved, which was left by Lucy Holman Rand in house of Nathan Brooks' wife, at Schroon, N. Y. (Dr. Emory Dunn, her nephew, at Schroon, could give particulars.)
Thurston Holman had charge of roads, Dist. No. 1, Apr., 1827. He had two children born before coming to Hague, 1802-03.
Dr. Thurston Holman was 6 ft. 2 or 3 inches in height, — weight, 250 lbs. Submit Park, his wife, remembered the first gun fired at Battle of Lexington. She had a remarkable memory. He was Deacon. He died of apoplexy, — sick only a few hours.
