HEARD WITH REGRET OF JOHN LEESON'S DEATH WHICH OCCURED AT THE FAMILY RESIDENTS AT 2 O'CLOCK THIS MORNING.

John Leeson, for a number of years manager of the grocery department at the Leeson department store, died at 2 o'clock this morning at his home at 807 South Sixteenth street of consumption.

There was not a more popular young man among his acquaintances in this city than John Leeson and although it has been apparent for several weeks that his illness was fatal, the saddenness with which the end came was a great shock to all who knew
him.

When the dread disease first made its appearance, all that could be done to ward it off was done, the sick man taking a trip to the mountains of North Caroline, where he remained several weeks, but returned without benefit. Since then it has been the same story of a gallant, but vain fight against death.

John Leeson was born in Jacksonburg, Wayne County, Indiana on the 29th day of September in the year 1877, and was thus in his twenty-sixth year. He lived with his sisters here, having never been married and was an exemplary young man in every way.

During the past several years he has been manager of the grocery department at Leeson's, having served a long apprenticeship as a clerk there, and his services gave excellent satisfaction to his employes. Recently, however, he has not been able to attend his duties, having been away from his employment since in January.

The funeral will be held at the family residence on Monday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. L. C. Howe officiating, and interment will be in the city cemetery. The local lodge of Knights of Pythias, with which he was connected, will have charge of the service at the grave and the retail clerks' union, to which he belonged, will also attend the funeral. The body will lie in state at the house Sunday afternoon from 2 to 6 o'clock.
