Mary Joan (Koch) Stohr, 90, went to be with our Lord Tuesday Dec. 28, 2010. She was born Dec. 14, 1920, in Spearville, Kan., the daughter of William R. Koch and Mary M. Bashall-Koch.

She married Kenneth Stohr June 13, 1949, in Sharon Springs, Kan. She enjoyed gardening, and belonged to several local clubs. During college she worked as a telephone operator and a bookkeeper for several firms for many years. She was a member of St. Patrick's-St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Raton.

Mary Joan is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth Stohr of the home; three daughters, Kay Banks and husband Jerry of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jean Bissett of Colorado Springs, and Rosemary Stohr of Tucson, Ariz.; three sons, Kenneth Stohr and wife Kathy of Centerville, Va., John Stohr and wife Cindy of San Diego, and Terry Stohr of Raton. Nine grandchildren also survive: Nicole Zaug, Ryan Bissett, Kelle Bissett, Monica Bissett, Leah Stohr, Amy Stohr, Jeffrey Stohr, Jessica Stohr and Michael Stohr.

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Monday, Jan. 3, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's-St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. with Father Daniel Balizan as the celebrant. Rite of Commital will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

A celebration of life luncheon will be at the St. Patrick's-St. Joseph's Catholic Church Hall after the service.
