Almon was an attorney and in his old age, a farmer. He was named for Almon Starke of Delaware County, OH, a family friend. Almon left Delaware Co, OH at a young age and moved to Iowa, much to his mother's disappointment as he was her youngest son. He later moved with his family to Iola, Allen Co, Kansas.

There is no marker for him but it is believed that he is buried along with his wife in Preston Cemetery. All stones in this cemetery have been damaged or destroyed.

It is believed that he died between 1880 - 1895.
