Jane Kessel Lathey, 99, of Ripley, passed away Jan. 1, 2011 at Eldercare of West Virginia, Ripley, following a long illness.
She was born June 14, 1911 in Ripley, a daughter of the late Dennis and Ella Corbin Kessel. She graduated from Dunbar High School, was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Hill Church at Given.
She is survived by a son, Stanley Lathey and his wife Mary of Given; daughter, Ella Faith Johnson and her husband Everett of Given; sister, Mary Casto of Atlanta; grandchildren, Cindy Sansbury, Rick Lathey, Annette Griffith and Michael Johnson; great-grandchildren, Ashli Samples, Ambra Lathey, Mandy Sansbury, Derek Lathey, Rebecca Griffith and Zane Griffith; and a great-great-grandchild, Blake Samples.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Clyde H. Lathey; brothers, Curtis Kessel, Troy Kessel, Oliver Kessel and Vaughn Kessel; and sisters, Faith Frey, Alice Lankfoote and Zora Harbert.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Given. Friends may call two hours prior to services at the funeral home.
