Eunice M. Harrison, 97, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at the Chickasha Nursing Home in Chickasha.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8th at Duncan Cemetery, Duncan, Oklahoma with the Rev. Emory Dye officiating. Interment services are under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home, Duncan.

She was born September 17, 1913 in Quanah, Texas, to Tillford A. and Lilly F. (Harrington) Spurgin. She later moved, with her family to the Corum community, west of Comanche, where she grew up and went to Beaver School. She married Victor Knapp on Nov. 12, 1929. She later married Richard R. Harrison on Sept. 14, 1951.

Eunice did sewing for her family and other people for years, making all her families clothes.

When she and Richard met, she was working in his dentist office. They moved to Oklahoma City and she continued working in his office. She also became involved with woodcarving, weaving, painting, accordion playing and all kinds of crafts. She taught woodcarving and macrame at St. Lukes Methodist Church for several years.

Survivors include her husband, Richard (Dick), of 58 years, a son, Roy L. Knapp and wife Vivian of Duncan, a daughter, Dorothy G. (Knapp) Hames and husband Jackie of Tuttle, Okla., five grandchildren: Dick L. Hames of Tuttle, Cheryl D. (Knapp) Deaton of Lawton, Randal L. Hames of Tyler, Texas, Ronald J. Hames of Oklahoma City and R. Darrell Knapp of Duncan, 13 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers: Homer, Horace, Dick and Ralph Spurgin and 1 sister, Metta Walker, a granddaughter, Janice Knapp and a grandson, David D. Hames.
