Richard was one of 10 children born to Thomas Crowther (25 Jan 1796,Easthope, Shropshire, England - 3 Mar 1871, In union workhouse at Bridgenorth, S, England) and Ann Preece (9 October 1800, Easthope, Shropshire, England - 27 August 1846, Easthope, Shropshire, England). They were married 7 June 1821.
