A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Friendship United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mike Morris officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. in Grandview Memorial Park-S. Cherry Road.
A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Jackson was the daughter of the late James Earl and Willie Swett Kendall and the widow of Charles E. Jackson, to whom she was a devoted wife and best friend for 49 years. A member of Friendship United Methodist Church, Mrs. Jackson sang in the choir for 50 years and was a former Sunday School teacher. She also was a member of the church Amity Club, the Mary Martha Circle and the Friendship Hobby Club as well as a member of the Silver Fox Club and Rock Hill Chapter 1416 of the AARP. Mrs. Jackson retired from Rock Hill School District Three, where she worked for many years as a teacher's assistant. Prior to her career as a teacher's assistant, she was employed in the engraving department at Rock Hill Print & Finishing Company.
Surviving are her daughter, Jane K. Jackson, of the home; her brother, Everett M. Kendall and wife, Pat, of Rock Hill; her sister, Leonia K. Feussner, of Ocala, Fla.; her brother-in-law, Richard G. Williams of Rock Hill; and three sisters-in-law, Gail Kendall of Rock Hill and Betty Jackson and Medora Jackson, both of Columbia, S.C.; along with many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church and other times at the home of Jack Cornwell, 2440 Neelys Store Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Friendship UMC, 1200 Neely Store Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to United Hospice, 118 York St., Chester, SC 29706.
