Mom was born in Homberg Hoch Heida, Germany. She emmigrated to Canada in 1914. She came with her parents Frank and Anna and 3 brothers, Frank, Godfrey, and Carl, and one sister Anne. Her favorite story about that time of her life was about walking along the railroad tracks picking up coal that fell from trais. She would take it home in a small pail to help heat the house. Her best story though, was about being chased all the way home by a bear while she was picking up that precious coal.

She entered the United States through Detroit to go to work. She moved to Chicago where she met Dad. They moved to New York City where they got married on July 25, 1931. She lived most of her adult life in New York and moved to California in 1956 where she workeas a waitress for many years. After retiring from restaurant work she started a new career making doll clothes. She loved making new designs and selling them at the swapmeet. There are undoubtably thousands of little girls that enjoyed having these beautiful Barbie clothes. When she wasn't busy doing these things, she spent lots of relaxing days at the Salton Sea with her brothers.

Mom loved to entertain and there were many days on Ashford Place when there were 20 or 30 friends and relatives sitting in the backyard or in her family room. Beer was plentiful as was the most delicious shish-ke-bobs that she prepared. She really enjoyed having her brothers and sister around. Everyone always had a great time, but beware, she always found a job for us to do. Mom lived life to the fullest until she passed in 2001. She has surviving sons James in Corona CA, Steve in Everett, WA and Frank in Olympia, WA.
