"Tommy"

Mr. Batson, 67, of Indian Trail, went home to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, Dec. 6, 2006. His parents, Jack and Annie Batson and his brother, Dale Batson, precede him in death.

Tommy was born in Hanover County, NC and had lived in Union County most of his life.

However, what is most important to remember about Tommy is how he truly loved people and gave of himself. He was a devoted husband, loving father and proud "Pooh Pooh".

Tommy's immediate family includes his loving wife, Carole Batson of the home; three children, Clay Batson (Amie) of West Palm Beach, FL, Kelly Carnes (Rick) of Monroe, and Chris Griffin (Paula) also of Monroe; four brothers, Kenneth Batson and Graham Batson both of Monroe, Stacy Batson of Maiden, Bill Batson of Pleasant Garden; two sisters, Kaaren Moore and Sandra Helms both of Monroe; six grandchildren; twelve nephews; seven nieces; nine great nephews; 14 great nieces. He was loved by all.

Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Friday, Dec. 8, 2006 at First Baptist Church, Indian Trail. Rev. Irvin Reynolds will officiate. The family will gather at the church, beginning at 5:00 PM until service time, to greet friends. Interment will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
