Vernon Dwight "Pee Wee" Turner, 82, of Anahuac, Texas passed away October 21, 2007.

He was born on October 5, 1925 to Harry Arthur and Naoma Alice (Harris) Turner in Anahuac, Texas. Vernon was a hardworking rice farmer and rancher that loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Anahuac. He was a member of the American Rice Growers, American Legion, and a thirteen year board member of the Trinity Bay Conservation District. Vernon is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy, Ed, and Jasper Turner; sister, Alice Jones; and daughter Susanne Turner. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mava Jo Turner; son, Arthur Jay Turner and wife Marie; daughter, Jody Fyvie and husband Cort; grandsons, Jason and Braden Turner; granddaughters, Cortney and Paige Fyvie; step-grandson, Lee Gray; twin-sister, Velma Edmonds and husband Dalton; sister, Theresa Halfin and husband George; brother, George Turner and wife Joyce; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A visitation for family and friend will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday October 23 at Sterling Funeral Home in Anahuac. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday October 24 at First Baptist Church in Anahuac, with interment to follow in Anahuac Cemetery.
