Jerome Smith was living in Upper Mt. Bethel Township, Northampton Co. PA with his parents in the 1870 census.

Thereafter, I do not find Jerome in any further KS Census reports. I suspect that he may very well be Isaac H. Smith, whom censuses thereafter reports he was born 1867-1869 in NJ.

Isaac H. Smith was living in Russell, Russell Co. KS census, with his parents and siblings in the 1880 census.

Isaac H. Smith, 43, b. NJ, was living in Saline, Ellis Co. KS with his wife, Theresa M., 52, b. NY and daughter, Limella E., 17, b. KS (named after her paternal grandmother) in the 1910 census.

J. H. Smith was living in Parsons, Labette Co. KS with his daughter Mrs. E.G. Parson and her family in the 1920 census.

Isaac was living in Waldo, Russell Co. KS with his brother William H. Smith and sister-in-law in the 1930 census. He was listed as widowed.

I. H. Smith was living in Center Twp., Russell Co. KS with his brother William's stepson and his wife in the 1940 census.

He is mentioned as a surviving brother living in Parson in his brother William's 1959 obituary. So this means he died sometime after his brother William. Isaac would've been about 90 yrs. old in 1959.

I found this birth record on FamilySearch.org:
Isaac S. Smith b. Jan. 24, 1869
Phillipsburg Township, Warren Co. NJ
father: Joronce Smith
mother: L...lella Smith
***It's obvious when you look at this that they had a challenge transcribing it from the original image, which was not available to view, unfortunately. It has been my experience in viewing originals and the transcriptions that often letters are transcribed incorrectly. Like an 'S' for an 'H,' as in this case, or 'Joronce' for 'Jerome.' And the mother's name gives enough to assume it could very likely be Limella.

I do believe this to be the birth record of Isaac H. Smith, aka Jerome, the son of Jerome and Limella Smith. I've also concluded that Jerome and Isaac H. Smith are one in the same and that he apparently used both names interchangeably.
