Quintos Hamilton, 88, of Hartford, Arkansas died Saturday, January 15, 2011 in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born on December 21 1922 to Charley and Daisy Hamilton in Hartford, Arkansas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II, and was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Henry Hamilton, killed in action during World War II and Carl Hamilton and a sister, Pauline Hamilton. Quintos retired as Superintendant of Schools in Hartford, Arkansas, where he served as junior and senior high basketball coach for ten years after graduating from College of the Ozarks and the University of Arkansas. He served as a case worker in Poteau, Oklahoma and Director of the County Office in Woodward and Cleveland, Oklahoma. He helped organize Head Start Child and Family Services in Sebastian and Crawford counties under the initiative policy put in place by President Lyndon Johnson, served as District President of Athletic Association, was President of Hartford Alumni Scholarship Fund, and chair person and trustee at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church in Hartford, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Harbottle Hamilton, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 2 pm Monday, January 17, 2011 at Hartford United Methodist Church with burial at Hartford Memorial Park.
