Another good citizen of Viroqua, an aged man and old-time settler here, Mr. Caleb Stevens died at his home in this city on Wednesday morning the 7th (Feb. 1894) Mr. Stevens was a quiet man, but one deeply interested in all commendable works of his county and home. He was born in the good old State of New York in 1827. In early manhood he came west and settled at Avon, Ill. where he resided ten years before coming to Wisconsin and where he married the wife who now mourns his death. For 20 years Mr. Stevens lived here. Besides the widow, he leaves a son, Albert, and a daughter, Mrs. W. H. Bausman, a brother and other kin. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Willey at the M. E. Church on Friday.
