My Uncle Teddy was my favorite uncle. Just a little man in size, but a man with the largest heart. He emmigrated to the United States when he was very young. He lived most of his life in New York City (Washington Heights) and had his own shoe repair shop in Columbus Circle for all of his working life. He retired to Bergenfield, NJ where he lived until he passed in 2000. Sandy and I will never forget the time we came to visit and when it came time for us to take the bus into the city, Uncle Teddy insisted on walking us to the bus stop a couple of blocks from his apartment "just to make sure nothing happened to us". I had 6" and 50 pounds on him and I don't know what he could have done to protect us, but that was my Uncle Teddy.
