Rev. Buren Bragg

Rev. Buren Bragg, 89, of 371 Mankin Ave., Beckley, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at Beckley VA Medical Center following a long illness.

Born Nov. 25, 1916, at New, W.Va., he was the son of the late Fletcher Bragg and Katy Radford Bragg.

Re. Bragg was a former farmer and timberman and was a retired maintenance engineer. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a Baptist minister since 1942, having been active in the radio ministry. Presently, Rev. Bragg was a member of the St. Mary's United Methodist Church.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Reda Frances Bragg; second wife, Mary Gentry Fanti Bragg on Oct. 25, 2006; and a daughter, Helena Davis.

Survivors include his sons, Kenneth Bragg and wife, Tena, of New Windsor, Md., and Jerry Bragg and wife, Sharon of Greenboro, N.C.' daughters, Vonnie Coskey of Shady Spring, Barbara Throckmorton of Williamsburg, Va., Dora Burgett and husband, Michael, of Walkersville, Md., and Dianna Brookman and husband, Larry, of Eldersburg, Md.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel with Pastor Roger Harding officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodson Cemetery at Bragg.

Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Larry Brookman, Michael and Kristopher Burgett, Matthew Brookman, Stephen Brookman, Stephen Brookman, Patrick Bragg, and Shawn Bragg.
