Mary Jane Bragg

Mrs. Mary Jane Bragg, 68, of Shady Spring, was dead on arrival Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 8:10 p.m., in a Beckley hospital, following a long illness.

Born July 27, 1922, at New, she was the daughter of the late Florence Radford, who preceded her on Aug. 22, 1968.

Mrs. Bragg was a homemaker and devoted her life to rearing her family, was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church at Abraham and was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County, having lived in the Shady Spring District her entire life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elva Cecil Bragg on Oct. 9, 1982 and two sons, Edward Cecil Bragg on Nov. 30, 1967 and David Wayne Bragg on Aug. 14, 1953 and a sister, Lilly M. Bragg on April 30, 1990.

Survivors include her loving children; five sons, Gary Bragg of Burlington, N.C., Carl and his wife, Dora Bragg of Shady Spring, Jimmy Bragg of Richmond, Va., Roger and his wife, Mary Bragg of Rochester, N.Y., and Donald, and his wife, Sharon Bragg of Prosperity; four daughters, Mrs. Loretta Henry and her husband, Bob Henry of Rochester, Mrs. Wanda Williams and her husband, Dwight Williams of Shady Spring, Mrs. Fonda Meadows and her husband Danny Meadows of Shady Spring, and Mrs. Mary Hall and her husband, Steve Hall of Rochester; four brothers, Jimmy R., Oscar and Lee Roy Bragg, all of Shady Spring and Russell Bragg of Daniels; a sister, Pauline Bragg, of Shady Spring; 14 grandchildren, Richard Lilly, Dawn and Ryan Meadows, Joseph and Kevin Bragg, Patricia Harvey, Dwayne Meadows, Christopher, Stephen, Chassity, and Candie and Lisa Bragg, David Bragg and Crystal Bragg, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p. m. at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with the Rev. Eddie Bragg officiating. Burial will be in the Goodson Cemetery No. 1 at Abraham.

Friends may call today from 5 p. m. to 9 p. m. at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral home.

Pall bearers will be Mike Meadows, Mike Hicks, Harold Marshall, Mike and John Radford and Danny Bragg.
