J. ARCH BROMLEY
J. Arch Bromley, of 155 Canton Avenue and a resident of Washington sicne 1890, died in Washington Hospital at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1968, after a long illness.
He was born June 30,1887, in Mercer County, a son of Charles and Eleanor Zahniser Bromley.
Mr. Bromley was a machinist by trade, having served his apprenticeship in the Zahniser and Sten Shop. He was one of the founders of Washington Mould, Machine and Foundry Company, where he was night foreman as well as serving on the board of directors.
He was active in the oil and gas industry in Ohio, and was vice president and general manager of Midland Oil Company of Brownsville, Ohio, since 1956.
Mr. Bromley was active in community affairs, and was a member of Washington School Board 16 years, and was treasurer and chairman of the athletic committee. He was a well-known football player in his youth and continued his interest in sports throughout his lifetime.
Mr. Bromley was a member of the former Third Presbyterian Church of Washington. A veteran of World War I, he served with the 308th Engineers in France and with the Army of Occupation in Germany. He was a member of Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175, and a member of Veterans of World War I.
In 1920 he married Amy Chadwick, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, J. Richard Bromley and H. Jack Bromley, Brownsville, Ohio, and Anne, wife of William N. Cooper, Washington; 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Sarah J. Andrews, Washington; one brother, Ray V. Bromley, in Florida; also a number of nieces and nephews.
