Married Sarah T Price, abt April 1837 in (West) Virginia. They sold their lot in Elizabeth Town, Ohio County (West) Virginia in 1837 and migrated to the Iowa Territory abt 1839. In 1841 Simeon was issued a land patent in Section 6 of the Danville Township (70N, Range 4W) and farmed there the rest of his life. His early Virginia legal documents indicate that he mainly used the "old" spelling of the family name (Parrott) but he was consistently known by the "modern" spelling (Parriott)in the Iowa Territory. Early Iowa documents show he served on multiple Grand Juries. His brother Christopher (1804-1870),who also migrated to the Iowa Territory, and brother Christopher's descendants chose to use the "old" spelling of the family name (Parrott). It must be noted he had a nephew by the same name who also lived in the Iowa Territory. This other Simeon Lawson Parriott (1835 - 1854) however was struck by lightening and died at the age of 19 (FAG memorial 64543867).
