16 year old Lydia Jane migrated to Burlington abt 1836 with her widowed mother Susanna Parrott. Several family members made the trip at that time, others followed later. They traveled down the Ohio river by flatboat, from (West) Virginia, then north on the Mississippi by paddle-wheel to Burlington. She married Robert Chalfant in 1838, but there is no record of any children of this marriage before her death the following year.
