Her obituary from the July 20, 1961 Plainfield Messenger:

Clara Harrison Succumbs at 101 Years of Age

Clara D. Harrison, widow of the late Arthur T. Harrison, an Anderson attorney, who in 1884 purchased the Plainfield Progress which he edited and published several years, died last Friday at Fairfield, Illinois, a few days after having surgery on a broken hip suffered on July 9.

Mrs. Harrison was 101 years of age when she succumbed. She was born in Mooresville June 26, 1860, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Davis. Her father helped to found the Salem Methodist church and she was an ardent worker in the Methodist church as long as she was able.

She was the mother of three children, two of who died in infancy. The third, a son, Oliver D. Harrison, was a member of the regular army serving six years in the cavalry and four years with the infantry. During World War I, he served his country in Siberia, China, and the Philippines. He died in 1928 in the Marion National hospital.

Mrs. Harrison lived most of her married life in Anderson, going to live with a niece, Mrs. E. M. Duffey, in the Fairhaven Nursing Home at Fairfield, Illinois nine years ago. On her one hundredth birthday celebrated last year she received notes from both President and Mrs. Dwight Eisenhower which she prized very highly.

Private funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Carlisle Funeral Home with Rev. Crooks officiating. Interment was made at Mooresville. Attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Johnson of Anderson, Judge and Mrs. Hezzie Pike of Indianapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Broderick of Urbana, Illinois, Mrs. E. M. Duffey and daughter, Mrs. Wayne T. Bradfield, of Fairfield, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace D. Trotter and D. Wesley Davis of near Plainfield. Mr. Johnson was a long time friend and adviser and fiscal agent; Judge Pike was a close family friend; and Wesley Davis her cousin whose grandfather, David Wesley Davis, was a brother of her father.

Survivors include three nieces, Mrs. Duffey, Mrs. Broderick and Mrs. Dorothy Underwood, and one nephew, Wallace D. Trotter.
