HARRINGTON George Cleve "G.C." Harrington, 75, of McLoud, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 28, 2001. Services will be at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Monday, December 31st, 2001 at 2:00 PM with Brother Donnie Bond and Brother Leroy Rice officiating. Interment will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, OK. Visiting hours will be 9AM to 8 PM on Saturday Dec. 29th and 1PM to 6PM on Sunday, Dec. 30th at Asa Smith Funeral Service in Harrah, OK. He was born on January 17, 1926 in Mannsville, OK to George Clemuil and Olive Ruth Cocke Harrington. He grew up in the McAlester and Ada areas in OK. His friends and family knew him as G.C. He married Ethel Loreen Futischa Ledbetter in Ft. Smith, AR on April 3, 1947. They were happily married for 54 wonderful years. To this union 5 children were born: Patsy, Genevieve, Shirley, Kenneth and Kathern. G.C. moved to OKC and raised his family. He soon realized he wanted a more peaceful life style away from the city and moved his wife to the country. He came to the McLoud area from OKC in 1974. G.C. enjoyed deer hunting in the fall and fishing in the spring, but his true passion was traveling around the United States with his family and listening to bluegrass music. He owned and operated his own business most of his adult life. He was a retired junk metals dealer. G.C. was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in McLoud. He was baptized on August 8, 1988. He was a prostate cancer survivor for 3 years. Survivors include his wife, Ethel, of the home; four daughters Patsy Blemmel and husband Richard of McLoud; Genevieve Williams and husband Bobby of Yukon; Shirley Bailey and husband Kenneth of McLoud; Kathern Freeman and husband Bernie of McLoud; one son Kenneth Harrington of OKC; daughter-in-law Judy Har rington of MWC; He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Angela & Casey Hudson of McLoud; Lisa Fields of OKC; Duwayne & Cori Bailey of McLoud; Kim & Robbie Catchings of McAlester, OK; Mike & Martie Harrington of NJ; Bernice & Jerry Grimes of OKC, Christine & Thad Burk of OKC; Laura Harrington of Hollywood, CA; Heather Williams of Yukon, OK and Amy Bailey of McLoud. 11 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-grandchild, his mother-in-law Harriet Ledbetter of McLoud, seven nieces and two nephews also survives G.C. Pallbearers include Mike Harrington, Duwayne Bailey, Casey Hudson, Robbie Catching, Jerry Grimes, Thad Burk, Bobby Williams Jr., and Greg Block. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His parents precede him in death, as well as half sisters Virginia Rose-Clark, Irene Harrington-Maxwell, half brother Don Rose and his faithful canine companion of 17 years, little Joe. The family wishes to thank Brother Donnie Bond, Brother LeRoy Rice, Jerry White, the physicians and the nursing staff at The Harrah Nursing Center, Hospice, and Chaplain Bill White. We appreciate everything you all have done for G.C. in his time of need. You were there for the family when we needed you and we sincerely thank you.
