BREWSTER - George E. Smith, 59, died Tuesday in his home at 391 W. Main st. after a 2-year illness.

Born in Toledo, he resided here 51 years. He was a conductor for the Norfolk & Western Railway and was a member of the Richville Gospel Tabernacle and the Brotherhood of Transportation Workers.

Surviving are his widow, Opal; 2 daughters, Mrs. Betty Frettinger of Knox, Ind., and Mrs. Ann Louise Lutz of Lorain; a son, Donald of Beach City; 2 brothers and 3 sisters, Henry Smith of Beach City, Victor Smith and Mrs. Helen Utsler of Navarre and Mrs. Elizabeth Deceuster and Mrs. Marie Brediger of here; 2 step-daughters, Mrs. Ellen Hershberger of Beach City and Mrs. Patricia Alexander of Green Springs, O.; a step-son, Gary Atwood stationed in Florida with the Air Force; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A daughter and step-son are deceased.

Services will be Friday at 1:30 in Lantzer Funeral Home with Rev. A.E. Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Union Lawn Cemetery at Navarre. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
