Heart failure was the cause of death. He was alone at home on Wednesday evening Mrs. Law having gone to Berkeley a short time ago on a visit. He retired at his usual hour, apparently in the best of health, but about 12 o’clock he was taken ill with pains in the region of the heart. He arose from his bed and telephoned for Dr. C. H. Castle.
